Windows Not Showing My Firewire Drive

Recommended Posts

So I'm trying to back up my files. I plug in my firewire drive and it seems like Windows recognizes it. It says "Safely Remove Hardware" and has the right name for the hardware (SmartDisk Corp. FireLite 20GB Smartdisk). However, opening up My Computer, I see:

C: (my main drive)

A: (floppy)

D: (CD drive)

E: (my DaemonTools virtual drive)

No firewire drive though. I have the driver installed. I have the drive connected through my sound card's FW port.

steve's right i think.

if it's a new disk or has been written to zero's it has to have an MFT on it man. partition it using disk management. windows calls it "initializing" it.. now would be a good time to partition it how you want to :)

then format it in ntfs.

How would U format a external Device thats not connected Vie sata or Ide, Ive never heard of that. I just thought that external devices like usb drives and Firewire where in already formatted and ready for use in FAT32.
