Which Mobo Should I Get?

system specs:

intel p4 2.4 non ht

400fsb

133mhz sdram ddr 512mb

no use for sata

3 pci slots max (case isnt large enough to fit a full atx format)

needs onboard audio and video

 

i was thinking i should stay with the 845GL chipset, but can i upgrade to a better chipset and still run the 400fsb and sdram?

 

what do the other 845 chipsets have compared to the GL?

cuz you're not going to find any boards with SDR support anymore. it's DDR or DDR2 these days (though you'd need a new cpu for DDR2).

i did find a nice MSI board that would work

but how reliable are their boards usually?

I've had some model MSI boards that are great, and others that are total trash. best bet is to hit up good old google and take a look at the exact model.

it will support what i need, but i have not been able to locate any reviews

it's not going to get reviewed that's an OEM system pull board out of an HP (most likely)

 

 

if it's in the ball park of $30 I'd say give it a shot.
