ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Uhh...I think that there is a guide in CPUFSB that will tell you what it looks like one second I'll try to find mine to tell you what it looks like.
ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Mostly it is near by a crystal which has the frequency of 14.3... MHz. Look at you mainboard and you will find a silver part that is about 1 cm long (it looks like a metal stick) and has the numbers 14.318 on top of the case. Nearby this crystal there is the PLL (Phase Locked Loop) that generates all frequencies of the mainboard. There are only eight (CPUFSB says six but lists eight) manufacturers of PLL IC
frictionboy Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 I just now hunted for it for about 30 mins, and found nothing! Probly cause there is too many other things in the way, and i just didn't see it. You are talking about this crystal thing being on the motherboard right? ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 It is jus tthis little silver ellipse/rectangle thing that is about 1 cm long. It is shaped kind of like this: ___ (____) It also took me awhile to find mine, mine is toward the upper right hand corner of my motherboard but yours may not be...I'll try to take a picture of where mine is and what it looks like so you can see the crystal and what the PLL will look like more or less. ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Oh yeah sorry about the image quality but it is dark here and it was hard to lie in a corner taking pics of a half open case. To moderators - Sorry for posting a few times in a row but I'm not sure if I had edited my posts if the picture would have stayed.
