talvai Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 ok i want a pci express video card. Now am not rich so no $500 cards. I want to have a better decent high end with good overclocking.$400 is my max for price. Now which one do you guys recommend. ATI or Nvidia and why? This is a high end gaming machine. And if you can show me graphs and reviews that would be great as well.
GregP24 Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 For PCI-E, ATi's X800XL is supposed to be available in Jan. From the preliminary reviews/previews, it looks to be better than the 6800GT, and cheaper, too.

DECwakeboarder Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 That is true, it really doesn't matter what company you go with, its mostly just a matter of personal opinion here.
tharealmegaman Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 you could SLI a couple of 6600GT's for a little less than 400$ shipped.
General Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 he could but he would need to drop money on a new mobo and PSU. which might be hard to swing on 400 bucks.
GregP24 Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 X800XL's will probably OC quite well, since it's on a smaller die than the the R420 cores.
talvai Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Yea am buying a new motherboard and cpu. Am getting that ASUS board with two pci express slots. the cpu i dont know which one, but it has to be faster than a 64 3000+ for socket 754. What do you guys think for brand I should get? Pny, sapphire, ati, chaintech what?
r_target Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 X800XL looks really good for PCI-e. Should match a 6800GT in just about everything, and cheaper to boot.
oralpain Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 SLI-6600GTs are slower at high res with AA/AF than a single 6800GT. PCI-E the X800XL does look like it will be an excelent bang for the buck.
