Hailstorm Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 I would suggest getting some better cooling. I am running at 24 for temp right now. If that tells you anything. I have a feeling you may have a meltdown coming. Lower your clock and get better cooling. But, Also. I am a Intel guy and AMD might have a bit higher temps. But not that high. FunkyMonkey Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 52c doesn't mean your going to have a meltdown but it is also not a ideal temperature i suggest getting some better cooling and some AS5 (arctic silver 5) what's your volts at? keep it around 1.6v
airman Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 52 is fine. that's what i got on my stock cooling. but, cooler is always better. also...you won't get far on overclocking with that pc2100 ram. http://www.overclockersclub.com/overclockingfaq.php < all your overclocking know-about needs
guzzidom Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Volts are at 5.25 (std bios is 5) and the board will only put out 5.5, I was worried about lifting the volts as I was assuming this is where (some of) the temp comes from, Given my pevious Athlon Palomino XP 1600 used to IDLE at about 58 deg (OEM HP Machine) I figured it would be OK peaking at 52, think perhaps I ought to back the bugger off a bit, at least til I get a case cooler. I'm not looking for any further major O/clock's from this chip, I just want it to run reliably where it is., and yep that pc2100 gotta go cheers all for answering my first post, anybody else o/clocking the Athlon 64, if they could post their temps that would be useful.. spathalogic Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 52C is NOTHING to worry about, in my opinion. Almost all modern processors these days are rated to run at 60C+ speeds. The only thing I'd worry about is if your motherboard is giving you wrong temperatures, like most do- some give you higher than it is or lower than it is. If you really want to check the temperatures exactly get a "third-party" to come in, IE, a temperature probing device that is not connected to the computer .
