s4m Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Their is a local pc store that has some hsf's in a basket (some look used some look new) and i was wanting to get one. But they have so many choices i can't decide which one to get. I have narrowed it down to these though: Aerocool Deep Impact http://www.aerocool.us/cooler/dp102.htm Aerocool Extreme http://www.aerocool.us/cooler/extreme.htm Aerocool Hercules http://www.aerocool.us/cooler/hercules.htm Vantec Aeroflow http://www.vantecusa.com/product-cooling.html# (VA4-C7040) TT Volcano 7 http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/volcano/rs/a1124.htm Coolmaster Aero 7 lite http://www.coolermaster.com/index.php?LT=e...Aero%207%20Lite And a thermal take hsf that i cannot find what it is on the internet, it had a clear fan grille on it (very simular to the volcano 7's silver one, but was clear with grey aluminum sink. all of these are priced at 17.95 exectp the deep impact (which is 24.95) and the aero 7 lite (which is 13.95) if yall could help me decide which one will perform/work the best, but it being quiet is also a priority, i would appreciate it . thanks
worker Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Well they all have low cfm but I would get the areacool extreme cooler. If you are will to spend $50 or a little more get the xp-90 or the xp-97.

tazwegion Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Yeah, worker's right the Thermalright SP-97 is a sweet deal but that's not what you asked... I have a weakness for new technology and alternative ways of approaching a solution, so personally I would lean towards the DP-102 Deep Impact, but it's a tad heavy weighing in @ 580g's (no fans). FYI IMO Thermaltakes performance often relies on their using high CFM fans that scream @ 40+dBa Looking @ your mobo though... The DP-102 will mount with the fans running in a vertical plain ie. sucking in case bottom, exhausting towards the top of the case, this is good because you don't want a H/s overshadowing your DDR slots/capacitors... plus you can have a two fan solution, push/pull as illustrated by the following image... Lastly PERFORMANCE @ 24.6dBA Here's a good review @ GruntVille
s4m Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 is the weight of the deep impact a bid deal, could it hurt something?
slayer2cool Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 ok firstly, there is no such thing as the Thermalright XP-97... secondly, are you gonna OC if you arent the vantec aeroflow should be suffice as for the Deep impact...i would suggest you go for the aerocool high tower instead...the weight alone on that is enough to put me off...there is a review of the high tower here in overclockersclub...and it look so much cooler and its about 100 g lighter? lol maybe 100 g isnt much but then its better then nothing http://www.aerocool.us/cooler/ht101.htm performance wise, i would say the deep impact is slightly better as its bigger
tazwegion Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 ok firstly, there is no such thing as the Thermalright XP-97... you are so right... it's actually SP-97 (but it's still a ThermalRight product ) the XP series (XP-90/120) aren't for Socket A platforms... hey I think I'm allowed one 'typo' a month (which I've now fixed ) is the weight of the deep impact a bid deal, could it hurt something? As for weight... it can be an issue r/t flex of the M/board (in tower installations)
TimeMachine Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 the DP-120 is amazing man, id get that if i had 60 bucks
kobalt Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 If you're going to OC a bit i'd go for the thermalright SI-97 with the review it has so far, it looks like it can cool almost as good as WC
s4m Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 If i decide not to get the dp-102 (still decideing if i want it or not) which would yall get out of the vantec aeroflow or the Aerocool Extreme, or maybe even the coolmaster aero 7 lite
slayer2cool Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 dude, dont get aero 7 lite..never the lite version...if you wanna get something like that, just get the aero 7...the hybrid aluminium-cupper suxxor... and i would recommend the vantec aeroflow...i tell you if one can find mod to fix a 80mm fan like panaflo or even a tornado on it, it should be able to give sweet performance
