Athlon Xp Or Athlon Xp-m

Recommended Posts

I had decided to go for a XP2600+, but then I've been told that XP Mobile processors are better for o/c... can someone please point to me why they are better for o/c?

The thing is I can get the XP2600+ for $58 bucks here http://www.smksuperstore.com/catalog/viewitem.asp?ID=7350

And the XP-M 2400+ is $87 bucks here http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-103-439&depa=1

And the XP-m 2500+ is even cheaper at $85 here http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-103-401&depa=1

I also found this $77 XP-M 2400+, why is it cheaper??? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-103-400&depa=1

is the $30 dollars difference really worth it??

xp-m's are MUCH better OCers for the following reasons:

-They start off with a much lower vCore which means you have more space to boost it if needed.

-They are usually from the center of the wafer which is basically as good as it gets when it comes to "luck of the draw"

-The multiplier is unlocked!!

How come one is 10 bucks cheaper? which one will o/c better?

How does the 2400 compare with the 2500 in o/c performance?? they cost almost the same...

My mobile xp2400 45w will do 2.6ghz stable but i am limited to going any faster by my pc2700 memory and my cheap hsf. I run it at 2.4ghz 11x219@ 1.60v prime 95 torture test stable for 24hrs with temps @ 33 idle 44 full load. I went with the 2400 because its cheaper and from what i read its just as good as the xp2500 mobile. As far as wich mobile 2400 is better (45w vs 35w) im not quite sure but you cant go wrong with 2400 mobile.

What I've been told is that being 35W it will generate less heat while o/c and so it allows a higher o/c...but that's just what I've been told...can anyone back this up???

The XP-M 2600 is a bit too expensive, I mean if I can get good o/c on the 2400, then I think spending more money on the 2600 is a waste, I can get a better HSF for that money...
