Mr_Yuck Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 This is for something that does HL2 Well... he's gonna butcher his old computer to cut costs he has enough hard drive space already. (55 gig) No CD Drives needed no floppy burner needed Keyboard and mouse are good. ______________________ He says he might want to upgrade to a "Flat screen" I assume he means LCD He wants a Schweet Case Looks like PCI Express would be a good idea. I am thinking that an AMD would be a good choice for good performance/price ratio maybe an AMD 64? ______ to sum it up...what we want to get are: Video Card, Motherboard, Memory, Processor, LCD Monitor, Case, and Headset. -----May the best configuration win----- EDIT: It looks like an AMD64 would be a good choice since it comes with farcry
BloodySunday Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 (edited) http://www.anandtech.com/guides/showdoc.aspx?i=2231&p=3 There budget gaming system is pretty good but an LCD with that setup might be pushing it. They recommend a Sempron 3100+ but if you can afford it get an A64 2800+ or 3000+. And definetly go with this RAM Gaming Alternative: 2x512 MB Corsair Value Select CL2.5 Price: $140 shipped Its such a good deal I wouldn't pass it up. gunak87 Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 I'd forget about the LCD monitor for now. You'll get more bang for your buck with a big 'ole CRT.

Not yet by the end of the month though. And if PCI-E does come in time for your build I would go with a X700XT
