jinnah Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Hi , As far as I know since I had the same problems once .Well you can only track the ip of the other person when you are on p2p connection or peer to peer .Most PM (private messages) dont reveal the remote ip address rather the ip of the server .So if you want to catch the sucker you have to tempt him to transfer a file in that case even your ip will be reaveled .Unless you connect from a anonomous proxy i would prefer mostly to connect using port 80 as most proxy servers allow almost everything on this port thinking it to be HTTP REQUESTS If you are using the yahoo messenger the latest then Invoking an enviorment will reveal the ip . So basics that you can run from the dos prompt netstat that will show you all connections made to your machine if you need help on the option then netstat ? in dos nslookup shows you the dns server name or ping -a when netstat is not available on your dos The program that reveals the geographical location and one i personally like is virtualroute you can download a trail version . I might be wrong in what i have shared if i am please do correct me . Hope this helps
