Newport Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 A friend of mine just asked me a question about how he could transfer VCR Tape to his computer in the form of .avi or .mpeg file types. He eventually wants to burn these new files to a video CD but he is unsure how to go about all this. Would he need a converter or can he run it from his VCR > GPU or TV Tuner > to CD drive or what? Please post replies quick because he needs to know soon. Thanks in advance, Newport
Some_Guy_ Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 I think a TV tuner card should work. I have a device mady by ADS called a "USB Instant DVD" that can not only capture video from any source, but send it back to VCR as well. Anyway, any kind of capture device should do it, be it a tuner card/all-in-wonder, or an external box like I have.
henbenley Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 I would use an external video capture device, something like either of these: This one is rather expensive but it includes software and has newer technologies also: - $150 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id...29&type=product This one is much cheaper and includes cheaper software and also uses older technologies: - $70 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id...49&type=product They both should work fine for what you want, if you need to be able to do alot of editing or need good quality then I would go with the first, but if those are less importand factors I would go with the much cheaper one. And you might be able to find these cheaper somewhere else but best buy was the only place that I could think of that I knew would have them. And you could also use a cheaper brand of the same sorta thing too.
