kup22r Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 i just got a new router and am going to use WPA instead of WEP (which is what i had on my old router). i set up a WPA key and booted up my laptop and it simply gave me a place to put the WPA key (before when i was using WEP it just gave me a slightly different window where i had to insert the WEP key). on a pc in my house that has a wireless card however, it still gives me the window where i can insert the WEP key but i have yet to figure out how to tell it to use WPA. Is this card just not compatible with WPA or is there something i'm missing?

lilkev715 Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 (edited) I am assuming that your dlink wireless card supports WPA. You have three options in order to enable WPA. 1) Use the dlink software to enter in your WPA key 2) Download the WPA patch from windowsupdate 3) Use SP2 (unoffical to public, but its final) as SP2 is much easier to deal with wireless Edited August 19, 2004 by lilkev715
mvjunkie Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I beleive support of WPA in winxp is released with SP2. So if you get sp2 you should be able to enter your key.
