Xtreme21 Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Alright i am going to switch to an LCD 17" screen for my B-DAY, and this monitor looks really coo and i want your feedback on this screen.. Albatron L-17AS
sdy284 Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 The 25ms response time is kinda high...shoot for something in the 16ms range, I have a NEC Multisync 1765, and it looks saweeeet and has a 16ms response time.
HomerJaySimpson Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Im going LCD too, getting this one in fact LG Flatron Is it true that the image quality is better on a CRT? I simply want an lcd to save space and they look cool. I've read mixed responses about lcd's and a lot of people prefer crt's. Why? Rick_fourdumbkids Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 CRT's do have better quality image if you want to game but if you just want to do general computer stuff then LCD's look neat but there terrible for gaming so much ghosting... (only on the cheap ones tho)
LobbDogg Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Yeah even on a 25ms response time LCD, the ghosting will drive you nuts on FPS games. It actually makes me sick to my stomach when I try to look at it. You definitely want to get one that is 16ms. If you can't afford to, save your money till you can. Bosco Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 For the love of gaming, do NOT buy a 25ms response time (or 20ms response time) LCD for gaming! Go with a 17ms response time or better, if you want to game on it.
HomerJaySimpson Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 The one im getting is 16ms response time. I play quite a lot of fps games too, would there be any notable difference in quality when playing games? Â BTW sorry Xtreme for hijacking your thread

I'd say if you play FPS games and even lots in general, then get a 16 ms or even just go with a nice CRT. I also find that CRTs have still better quality than LCDs IMO. Xtreme21 Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Yah but wont i get used to it or will i even notice it... And also i dont have 700 dollars to spend on a monitor... But seriously its a nice looking monitor and all i really do is game, will it drive me crazy?? Since ive been with CRT's all my life will even notice ghosting even though ive never seen it before.. LobbDogg Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 (edited) Yeah, I think you would notice the ghosting. I have all CRT monitors at my house, my dad has a 17" LCD with 25ms response time. And I hate it for FPS games. Strategy games and slower paced games seem to be ok. But I played Farcry on his LCD, and it started to give me a headache within minutes. Spend your money on a good CRT then is what I'd reccomend. Edited April 23, 2004 by LobbDogg
ace221dan Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 i have a 25ms response time and out of games like FarCry, CoD, Nam, halo, CnCgenerals I only ever get a little ghosting in CoD. It seriously is nothing to cry about, once you're playing the game you don't notice it. Considering the excellent image quality and colour(puts my CRT to shame) as well as space saved and convenience of lcds, not to mention the aesthetics i don't really care. But if you have that little bit extra cash then you're best to shoot for 16ms
Xtreme21 Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Well i think this one is in my price range, 17", and 16ms response time.. Looks nice too.. Clicky!!
