Going Lcd

Yeah even on a 25ms response time LCD, the ghosting will drive you nuts on FPS games. It actually makes me sick to my stomach when I try to look at it. You definitely want to get one that is 16ms. If you can't afford to, save your money till you can.

For the love of gaming, do NOT buy a 25ms response time (or 20ms response time) LCD for gaming! Go with a 17ms response time or better, if you want to game on it.

The one im getting is 16ms response time. I play quite a lot of fps games too, would there be any notable difference in quality when playing games?

BTW sorry Xtreme for hijacking your thread :)

Compared to what? I'd say if you play FPS games and even lots in general, then get a 16 ms or even just go with a nice CRT. I also find that CRTs have still better quality than LCDs IMO.

But seriously its a nice looking monitor and all i really do is game, will it drive me crazy?? Since ive been with CRT's all my life will even notice ghosting even though ive never seen it before..

Yeah, I think you would notice the ghosting. I have all CRT monitors at my house, my dad has a 17" LCD with 25ms response time. And I hate it for FPS games. Strategy games and slower paced games seem to be ok. But I played Farcry on his LCD, and it started to give me a headache within minutes. Spend your money on a good CRT then is what I'd reccomend.

i have a 25ms response time and out of games like FarCry, CoD, Nam, halo, CnCgenerals I only ever get a little ghosting in CoD. It seriously is nothing to cry about, once you're playing the game you don't notice it. Considering the excellent image quality and colour(puts my CRT to shame) as well as space saved and convenience of lcds, not to mention the aesthetics i don't really care. But if you have that little bit extra cash then you're best to shoot for 16ms
