ir_cow Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 I know the first thing people are going to say is "you should have known". Against my better judgement i bought a used x399 motherboard. Basically $125ish off with a free monoblock. I got the motherboard today and did my inspection. It is really good i did, this seller didnt reassembled the the heatinks right. Everything was lose and im sure he tried to watercool it with vrm 3 thermalpads instead of the one included with the monoblock. Water was still under the pads and im supprised it didnt short on the dude. It was rough. Lession is to be prepared to get total crap when ordering. wevsspot Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 I just recently bought a used MSI GTX 980 Ti from a seller on eBay. Fortunately for me everything was 100% perfect. But I've been burned before for sure. I never buy from anyone with less than 100% feedback, at least 50 Reps and was an active buyer/seller within the last six months. Those simple rules of thumb have served me well. Plus eBay policies have turned so "buyer oriented" lately, it's actually worse to be a seller than a buyer. Holds on funds, illegitimate claims of non-receipt, or stuff being DOA. Even if you are stiffed, you can still file a dispute if the item you received was materially different in description or working condition. A lot of hassle I know, but better to get the funds back eventually than to just accept the loss. I'm also very careful about how I fund my purchase................ I always avoid power supplies and motherboards, but i took the risk from someone with 1200 feedback. Doesn't always means the seller knows how use the components properly.
