Braegnok Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 (edited) I'm changing my home Internet Provider next month,.. and want to monitor my bandwidth consumption during the next few weeks to determine my average monthly usage,.. the service plan I'm looking at has a usage cap of 250GB per month,.. Can anyone recommend a good usage meter, data tracker software,.. or used NetWorx : https://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/manual/?lang=English Edited July 12, 2015 by Braegnok
ccokeman Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Does your modem have it built in?
Braegnok Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 (edited) The modem included with current service has no bandwidth metering options. Edited July 11, 2015 by Braegnok
DanTheGamer11 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 If you're using windows 8 that seems to have some sort of usage meter, I'm not sure how accurate it is though. What devices are connected to it?
Braegnok Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 (edited) I'm running W7,.. I would only need to meter one computer for a few weeks doing daily tasks to estimate my usage,.. I watch Netflix set at HD and use Steam a few times a week,.. both use a ton of bandwidth while normal daily usage internet surfing I guess would not use much,.. Waco Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 You won't use 250 GB/month with a single computer even with HD Netflix and Steam downloads. https://help.netflix.com/en/node/87 Not unless you watch Netflix "Ultra HD" stuff 24/7 anyway... SpikeSoprano Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) Just wondering, when you stream a movie on Netflix, dose it use as many gb's as say if you download the movie to watch it ? I have unlimited downloads so I never really paid much notice to it. Edited July 12, 2015 by SpikeSoprano
Braegnok Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Thanks guys,.. I went with the NetWorx software,.. and it is vary easy to set up, I'm monitoring my router now so all computers in house are being metered. Like Waco said I will never use 250GB a month,.. I watched a few movies on Netflix on HD it's 3GB per hour, and Ultra HD it is 7GB per hour,.. haven't checked Steem yet,.. and just normal usage web surfing I used 88.1MB last night.
