WhenKittensATK Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) Sorry for the off topic question, but what do you use to drive your hifiman? They are among the ones I consider buying, but they should be fairly difficult to drive properly.Audio-gd NFB 15.32 DAC/AMP, from what I remember they can be easily driven by things like O2 Amp (also comes in 02+ODAC combo) and Schitt Magni amp (Basically most $20-100 amps will be fine). Before that I was using ASUS Xonar DG. I have a big head so the HE-400s have some clamp pressure. Same with these Thermaltake Cronos. Unless you see the HE-400 on sale for like $300 or less, you may want to go with the Sennheiser HD600/HD650. HE-500 would be a better choice if that ever goes on sale again as well. These links should help you, don't think they have been updated for a few months though. http://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/wiki/recommendations http://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/15wunp/guide_dacs_and_amps/ Edited August 10, 2014 by AZNguyen

Will definitely look into the amps. It's not entirely possible to compare the Sennheisers to Hifiman, since they use different drivers, so the sound signature will inevitably be different. I listened to the HE-400 in Japan and the Sennheiser 600, and there's definitely a difference. The HE-400 appealed more to me, which is why I was curious to know what you used to drive it. My only grief is that they are quite heavy, but that's the downside of planar dynamic headphones.
