SpikeSoprano Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Sounds like it's time to rma it, and if he didn't have the data backed up he is out of luck. I had a Seagate drive die on me the same way ,was 1 month old and could not even run tests on it because no pc would even recognize it. wevsspot Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Definitely sounds like the drive has bit the dust. What brand, model and size?
El_Capitan Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Probably something with the HDD that's causing a short of some sort. I'd have it RMA'd.

wevsspot Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Normally the WD Black Editions are my go to storage solutions. But things haven't been the same with any HDD since the floods in Thailand. Since then many of the HDD manufacturers have moved mfg. operations to China........ and we know how that can go sometimes. When I buy a drive and it says "Product of China" I pucker When I buy a drive that says "Product of Thailand" I smile When I buy a drive that doesn't have the country of origin on the master label I just wonder.....................
