usama7 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) I recently got the PowerColor Devil R9 270X. The card runs everything throw at it amazingly fast. The only thing I am worried about is the temperatures it gives me. Idles around 27~28C but during folding goes upto 66C and gaming can make it go upto 75C!. Are these temps good in the long run? I have just oc'ed the memory to 1500mhz, 6000mhz effective. Edited January 29, 2014 by usama7
IVIYTH0S Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Those temps seem quite safe, if it isn't throttling then it's fine.
usama7 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 No throttling of any kind. I used GPU-Z to check if there was any but it runs consistently at 1180mhz on core. I even tried oc'ing the core to 1220 and it was consistent. the temps it pit out then were 75C during gaming. Does ASIC value matter? Mine has a value of 80.8%
IVIYTH0S Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 That's a pretty good ASIC value I believe, never heard of it but check this out:http://forums.pureoverclock.com/graphics-cards/18837-gpu-z-asic-quality.html#post135487
ccokeman Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Those temperatures are perfectly fine with that card.
usama7 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Thanks. I was a bit worried about the temps because my friend got the toxic r9 270x and his temps are ridiculously low. never goes beyond 55C during gaming or folding.
BoobZ Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Thanks. I was a bit worried about the temps because my friend got the toxic r9 270x and his temps are ridiculously low. never goes beyond 55C during gaming or folding. i have a question, i own MSI R9 270x Gaming, and Elpida memory is specified to run at 1500Mhz but most card are clocked to 1400, is it safe to run them at 1500? Thanks
usama7 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I have elpida memory as well and i am running it at the specified 1500Mhz. As far as I know, card manufacturers downclock the memory to reduce the power draw. I am using my memory at 1500Mhz from the get go and it hasnt given me any problems. Thanks Yep its fine as long as it will run that speed without a lock up or artifacts. Not all cards run the same voltage to the memory so you may have the same memory IC's but they may not run the same speed. The clock speeds I was able to reach on the review sample I looked at in my R9 270 Devil review were 1223Mhz on the core and 1592Mhz on the memory so 1500Mhz should be easily attainable look here http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/powercolor_devil_r9_270x/4.htm
usama7 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 ccokeman I just ran my card at 1240Mhz @core with the memory at 1500Mhz. It ran Heaven Benchmark just fine and I also played a bit of AC: Black Flag. The temps stayed at around 70C with a maximum of 74C. I dialed it back down to 1200Mhz @core just to play it safe. I really dont regret the decision of getting the Devil!
ccokeman Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Sounds good! Enjoy playing with the Devil!
