What Graphics Card is good for my rig without a bootleneck?

Hi guys. I have this rig and this is the specs.

 

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 E0

RAM: 4 x Corsair Dominator 2GB 1600MHz CL7 running at 1333

Motherboard: Intel DX48BT2

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT

PSU: HEC Cougar RS550 550 watts 80+ Bronze

 

I want to upgrade my graphics card and I want to know if it'll be a good idea to have a pair of R9-270X on that old but still good rig. If not,, what graphics card would you recommend (for crossifiring only since it only supports amd crossfire) and if I need to change my power supply, how much power would I need to have?

Why go with Crossfire when you could run a single card that will give you better frame rates at a comparable cost?

 

If you are stuck on AMD then the R9 290 would be the way to go. 

If you want to stick with NVIDIA then I would suggest the GTX 770 or 780 that keep you close to your spend on the pair of R9 270X without the Xfire problems.

I agree with ccokeman, too many bugs with crossfire, you would be better off using one 290 or a 780, same price as crossfire without the headache !

Yep, single card and you shouldn't have any bottleneck troubles, is the Q9550 overclocked??

Thanks for the info about crossfire problems! I'll keep that in mind.

 

Btw, I'm running it on it's stock speed for now but I'm gonna overclock this once I get a good cooler in January.

Sounds like a plan, I bet you could get that to 3.8-4.0ghz no problem
