wevsspot Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 For those of you that like to use Memtest 86+ for testing memory stability or testing for bad modules, and especially those of you running Z68 or newer chipsets, I've got good news. Memtest 86+ version 5,0 RC1 is available. There are three flavors; bin, ISO and USB Installer. I tested the new release last night and I'm happy to report that this latest release correctly detects your memory frequency and timings even when you are overclocking your cpu or your memory You can find the new releases here; http://forum.canardpc.com/threads/68001-NEW-%21%21-Memtest86-5.00-RC1-available-%21-Need-betatesters-%

wevsspot Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 The only real bug I could find is that on my Gigabyte Z68 board it only detects one of the four cores on my i7. That may be a reporting error, or a detection error. But like I told the guys over at Canard PC, we are testing memory, not cpus. So even if only one core is communicating with the memory through the IMC - that should be irrelevant. I'm leaning towards it being a reporting bug instead of an actual bug. Waco Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I don't think I've seen it report anything properly since the Athlon XP days.
