Dimcho Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Hi, all. I'm building new gaming PC. It will be used for other tasks also, but not so much for heavy image/video rendering, than heavy gaming I can't choose suitable CPU for the system. Looking at prices and performances (I'm on a budget), the two below are my winners:http://ark.intel.com/compare/65732,65520 . Is the Xeon better, considering it's HT, or does the i5 perform faster, due to it's overclocking potential? Also does it worth spending some more for a i7 CPU, or even buying AMD 6-8 core one? Best regards
wevsspot Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Since you say "you're on a budget" and seem to indicate that you might or will be overclocking, then the two I'd pick from would be; Intel i5 3570K AMD FX-8350 Vishera
d6bmg Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 If you are building your system mainly for video/audio editing and gaming is not your primary priority, then I would suggest you to look at FX-8350. Performence in gaming should be a par with I5-3570K, and for editing purpose it should perform better. Don' go with Xeon way as 'You are on a budget'.
