stress testing program question

i was wondering this for a while now, when i play a game that uses 100 (99% effecive) of my gpu the temps dont go higher then 63c but when i go occt on my gpu it skyrockets to the high 80's :S

how come a program like occt get the temps way higher then games do, even tho the usage of the cardis the same? :S

which temps should i trust then? the gaming temps or the stress testing ones?

OCCT and other stress testing programs use more of the actual shaders/computational units on the GPU/CPU. Even at 100% in a game, the CPU is still sitting there doing nothing much of the time. Stress testing programs are designed specifically to get every single part of the chip active at the same time to maximize power and heat production.

If you're OCCT safe, you're generally safe for pretty much anything.

High 80s is fine for most GPUs if that's as high as it goes. My 4870X2s ran into the low 100s all the time even in a cool room before I water cooled them.

but you think that when there is fire you're doing it right so not sure.... xD

it also gives errors when it hits 83c and increasing quite a bit when the temps go even higher >.<
