Video Card Explaination

I've done some research for a friend because he wanted to get new cards, i was wondering whether i should tell him to get the gtx 660TI, i saw it had 2gb of VRAM, but it has 192 bits, which i heard was bad for AA.

I also saw the gtx 580 with 384bits(1.5VRAM), 300 bucks on ebay, and a gtx 590(3VRAM)(384 bits), 500bucks, and the GTX 660TI (192bits)300-325 bucks.

Can someone tell me which one i should tell him to get?

He's using a 60hz monitor @ 1920x1080, he'll be playing games like crysis 2, skyrim, bf3, stuff like that.

Oh and can someone tell me about cuda cores, the bit numbers, and the VRAM, and how it'll affect the games mostly?

He has a MSI Z77A-GD65 LGA1155, can it go Quad sli with with two dual GPU cards like 690+690 or 6990+6990?

Hmmmmmm the 590 might be the best choice. If he can afford it, and if he has the PSU to handle the power requirement, then that would be a really nice option.

If you needed to go a bit cheaper, you could get a AMD 7950 for 300 off newegg.

670 is 256bit for 400, 590 is 384bit for 500 used approx., im debating but i think you might be right on the 590...

is the 670 better then the 590 though? I saw that the sli 660ti beat the sli 580's although that could be wrong

does it have to be nvidia??

I'd get the 7950 myself (well i actually did)....I would not get the 580 in this day and age, they're asking way to much for last generation's tech.

The 590 is out because your Vram is going to hold back the card long before its dual GPU's do. 2GB would be the MINIMUM spec I'd invest in.

Also where do you see a 660Ti for sale anywhere??

@IVIYTH0S Well, i'd prefer it to be nvidia, i've never ever used AMD GPU's before ever. I'm not sure how they compare over to nvidia besides looking at the graphs i see on the web. I saw 660ti's for sale on BB from a fellow forum member here on OCC.

Are they a reviewer?? That's the only way I could see someone having one, since they aren't retail yet.

I flip flop between nvidia and AMD and I love both. Get the 7950 unless the 660Ti is much cheaper, they perform similarly but the Vram may be helpful later on.

No, they were just a regular member with two stars like me, he even had a self taken picture, he said it was at BB.

Isnt the 7950 more expensive then the 660ti coming in at 350? 3gb vs 2gb. Just curious, so the 660ti's equivalent is the 7950?
