NikoDG Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I'm just curious because it seems as though Windows 8 will be insanely frustrating without a touch screen, but what does it take to make a computer a touchscreen? I'm guessing a special controller with a special monitor, but I'm not sure. Can you take a normal computer and make it a touchscreen? Black64 Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Buy a touch screen monitor, it's almost the same as a installing a new keyboard.
NikoDG Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 And it just plugs into your computer through a normal HDMI port?
Stonerboy779 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 And it just plugs into your computer through a normal HDMI port? HDMI, DVI, VGA, Displayport whatever you got and whatever it takes although it will need at least one and with some more than one usb port also. I have an old touchscreen, CRT old and I am replacing it with an Acer 23" touchscreen all you need do is install the drivers that come with it (like a keyboard or mouse) and plug it in like a monitor and also connecting the USB cable. Then of course don't forget it does jack without a PC if you go touchscreen have a go with the windows 8 beta
Muchoman1 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 You can also buy touch panels which you put over a normal screen and plug into the computer via USB. These are around 200 for 23/24 inch screens
NikoDG Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Have you tried Windows 8 beta? That's basically the main reason I'm looking at touch screens.

NikoDG Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 You should try it so you can tell me if it's worth getting a touch screen
Stonerboy779 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 If I can you could also try it tho Also can you stick to one thread next time not three. Pick one and link the other two to it so everyone knows what you re after and what has been suggested.
NikoDG Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) Yeah, sorry about that I can't try Windows 8 now though cause I just have my cell, haven't had enough time to assemble my new computer fully yet Edited December 30, 2011 by NikoDG
Stonerboy779 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Well I am at work and then I am hitting up the beach for the next 3 days So no testing by me. There is a thread on OCC about the beta nd there are plenty if vids on YouTube which should give you a good idea of whether you want it or not.
