Since I feel like splurging this month, I've decided to get more RAM for my computer. I currently have 4GB, being 2x2GB G.Skill Trident PC12800. I'm looking at going for the full 16GB my board can handle, so that will mean 4x4GB modules (preferable at least PC12800). Right now the best modules I can find (price/performance) are the G.Skill Sniper series 2x4GB PC12800 (I'd buy 2 sets).

1) Are these good modules? I haven't been able to find many reviews out there...

2) Will these work with my board (Maximus III Formula)? They say they're compatible with the P55 chipset my board has, but you never know... They're too new to be listed in the QVL.

Morning maestr0

I haven't used that particular kit of memory - but in general G.Skill's Sniper series has been well received and performance/reliability is on par with any other quality brand.

I highly recommend G.Skill memory based on several years of use now as my primary memory brand for all builds - including those I do for myself or family.

Yes - that memory is compatible with your board. You can disregard most QVL's. All they tell you is that the board mfg. was able to test that particular board with these particular memory kits. Hell, even models that are on the QVL don't work sometimes. As long as the form factor is right (i.e. DDR2, DDR3 etc.) and you board supports the voltage requirements of the memory you're installing - in most cases you're good to go.

OK great, I've been meaning to expand my memory for a while now. Unfortunately, I'll have to put this upgrade on hold, as looks likee FedEX shipped my RMA'd mobo in the wrong direction (it went from Indianapolis, IN to Memphis, TN when it should have gone north to Toronto)... I`m sure there`s some strategy behind that, though  Going a week without my main PC is a pain!
