Flashing A Ati 9800 Pro

Recommended Posts

well, yes you can but it is HIGHLEY unrecommended by most OCers...the 9800pro and the 9800XT are NOT using the same core, unlike some of the other radeon cards. you can screw them up if not done right. Nuclear can tell you more about why you shouldnt because i dont know all the fine details.

I would like to quote on that system. The New 9800 pro 256's I know come with the R360 core. Same core the XT uses. Now what you wanna check for is if your core is the same as the XT's remove the heatsink and on the top of the core will either be R350 or R360. NOT ALL 9800's have this. my first 9800 pro 256 was a R350 and this is a R360 so double check ur core. The CAS on memory of the XT is set lower than that on the Pro so be cafeful with that. If your running stock cooling on that 9800 I would get something better. the XT's have much larger heatsinks on them.

everyone seems to be saying that.. except everyone who has flashed their card with the XT 128mb version have gained noticable more points in all benchmarks, when using the same clock rate.

took me all of 2 minutes to flash mine and everything has been sweet since. i was all against it until the 128mb version was released.
