Looking for some quality earbuds..

So both of my earbuds died(First was $300 Shure, second $30 Skullcandy) I think both died because of their cables being twisted. I had them hooked up to an Ipod Touch(2nd gen if it matters) and when I put it in my pocket and put the wires around the ipod I think they got twisted. It is only the left of each that does not work, the right works fine. So anyways, I use my phone for music now(Droid 2) since its easier considering I can use it for almost anything else I want to. Anyways, what are the best earbuds for under $75 for listening to music? Oh and if its possible I don't want other people to hear my music while I use them, today I had my Ipod stock ones and I could barely hear the music(seriously it was like a little bit louder than a whisper in my ear) and the person 10 feet away from me could hear it. :O

For the lazies

-Under $75

-No "HEAD"set (Nothing that gets put over the head ;))

-Good for music

-Not everyone can hear it while I am using them for music

Yeah, you can get replacement cables. They're usually cheaper than buying a whole new replacement earbuds. I use the Shure SE210 Sound Isolating Earphone that I got for $75, again the Amazon Gold Box deal. I also got the Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 Noise Isolating Earphones for $95 on sale via Amazon's Gold Box for my gf.

Anyways, the Shure SE210 comes with a detachable cable. Even the TripleFi 10's cables are really really bad. I think they make them that way on purpose so people just buy new earbuds. Just google around to find replacement cables, and you'll be set. Some cost more than the earbuds themselves, but you can find solid $25 ones.

Those Shure headphones didn't come with a detachable cable that you could replace? For a set in that price range I would expect they would. Hell I'd even replace the cable myself. But anyways, I can recommend that Etymotic ER6i or MC5.

Well they are I think 2 years old(I got them for free from my dad since he got new ones, so I never really bothered to look em up and I can't find em anymore).

And thanks for the suggestions!

El_Capitan, which do you find better for music, the Shure's or the Ultimate Ears?

I've always been a Sennheiser fan, then switched to Shure, but Ultimate Ears really takes the cake.

Yea I have the UETF10's also and they're fantastic, but unfortunately they're probably quite a bit out of your $75 price range. They're typically $250-300, but that $100 amazon gold box price has happened two years in a row though. I picked up a used pair for $80 last year right after the amazon sale. You could try looking around on headphone forums for a pair. I like head-fi.org.

$5 over budget for HiFiMan RE0

Comes with: 30 days refund and 1 year replacement

I was going to put these on my Christmas list, but I decided to put some books on there instead. Seriously....books :D

Maybe I'll pick them up with extra cash I have leftover after Christmas and Lunar New Years.

I would go with the Razer Morays they are around 50 bucks or less on sale. And i use them for music at work as well in my front pocket and no problems with the cable. And as a bonus i put them through the wash and the dryer and they still work fine sound great to  .

I have a pair of Westone UM2 IEMs... they cost me $270... after the 1-year warranty runs out, they offer a service to replace the cable for $22 (excluding shipping)... you send it off, they fit the cable for you, and send them back to you

If you still have the Shure IEMs, ask them (i.e. Shure) about a replacement headphone cord service... would be cheaper than a budget set of crapola headphones

Apparently everyone else has a larger budget for ear buds than me............... :(

I've got the Razer Moray (just like Hemidare) and for the price I've been completely satisfied. But again, I've never had the gumption to try a $300 set of earbuds.

I haven't heard the Razer Moray's but in my personal opinion just about anything Razer makes is rubbish; keyboards, mice, you name it.

I can't speak for their keyboards, but I love my Razer mouse and I love my Razer ear buds. The mouse has been solid and I pound on it for 2-3 hours a night when gaming and it's still going strong after almost a year.
