bkdog411 Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 I have a 1700+ TBRED B with on a Gigabyte GA-7VT600 Mb 256mb pc2700 mem. When i raise the fsb the agp bus speed goes very high is this damaging my video card? Also is this board any good for OCing.
clay31 Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 im not positive but ive herd from around these forums that agp video cards go a little haywire when that happens.i dont know what they meen by haywire nore do i know if this is true as i have had no experience with it happening to me. bishop245 Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 check the bios and see if there is an agp/pci bus lock anywhere in there
Special_K Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 ok heres what you do. in the bios there should be an option to lock your agp or pci settings, locking either will lock both. lock your agp at 66mhz and your pci at 33mhz. then if you go in incriments over 33mhz in an oc, your card wont go wacko. i also suggest getting more ram, you board, however, has a via chipset (correct?) which is inferior to NF2 ultra chipsets as far as oc'n goes, you'll be able to oc, just not that much, and it may not be as stable. InvaderTrax Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Well, it's a KT600, so there's no AGP/PCI lock. My advice is to raise it in increments of 33. You may loose just a little speed, but you'll save your video card
Special_K Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 are you sure that there is no option where you can lock the agp/pci?
InvaderTrax Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Positive. Only the newest K8 VIA boards have it. Beat the nForce III boards in benchmarks too
Special_K Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 oOo good to know! ***the more you know
bkdog411 Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Is this chip worth buying a nforce board to Oc
InvaderTrax Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Well, you can easily OC it on the board you have, but you'll have to go in increments of 33. You can't have a 200MHz fsb, but you can have
bkdog411 Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 My mb only lets me go to 165 if i use a windows based program and turn the fsb to 166 will it set the divider back to default agp/pci bus of 66/
Eva_Unit_0 Posted February 1, 2004 Posted February 1, 2004 Yes, the dividers line up so that at every "standard" fsb speed (100, 133, 166, 200) the pci/agp clocks are correct. I agree with the other guys...try to keep your fsb speeds at, or very close to, these standard values.
