ir_cow Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 i just peiced togther a folding & Seti rig and getting sorta high temps i think. just need some quick info running an i7 920 2.66 with stock cooler and hitting 78-81c on load during prime95. from what i've read its on the high side and should be at 70 at most. so my question is should i repaste it again or just buy an aftermarket cooling for this system? CowKing Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Why not buy an aftermarket cooler? i mean you're going to have to repaste, about every year depending on which TIM you use. A new cooler lasts forever

OwinC Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 That would be 21c. http://www.texloc.com/closet/cl_fah_cel_chart.html I could send you my cooler that came with my system for you to run if you want. It is a 3 heatpipe blow down pushpin with an 80mm fan
ir_cow Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 i was thinking of getting the Thermalright U120eXtrem1366RT R-C 120mm Fluid Dynamic CPU Cooler . saw the review on here and from iv read it beats the CoolMasters v8. i just dont think i want to spend $60 for a cooler... OwinC Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 It was high 60s at 2.93. It really did not help with the lack of airflow. In a stock ASUS case That is what I spent on my Megahalems without a fan. Right now my room is 80f and the chip is running 49 low and 62 high while folding. With a Cooler Master fan pushing.
