Miek Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 (edited) I had originally chosen the NH-U9B SE2 by Noctua, but I'm not sure that I'd get all of the performance I want out of it. I think it'd keep things cool enough for stock clocks, but I'm not so sure about overclocking. Thus, I am seeking recommendations for a heatsink/fan assembly. There's a few things I want in a heatsink/fan: Good base quality Good performance Doesn't sound like a jet engine (though a bit of noise is tolerable, even loud HSF's are quieter than my laptop)[*[Will fit into an NZXT Tempest EVO without blocking the side, back, or top fans I kind of like the NH-U9B SE2 because it's a smaller HSF, but again, I'm starting to drift from it because I don't know that it'd have all the performance I want. I have no real brand preference, though, as long as it works. For budget... I don't really want to go cheap cheap cheap of an HSF because it's kind of vital to the longevity of my computer. Works great. Often second in reviews and quite a bit better than the NH-U9B Best you can get (and what knocked megahalems off top spot) is Noctua D14. I was looking at the NH-U9B because of its smaller stature (though that would mean less performance). I have no doubt that the NH-U9B would keep me within safe operating temps. It'd still be WAY better than the stock HSF. But.... still. If they'll fit in the case, I'll look into a megahalem or maybe even the D14. I suppose the cooler, the better, right? Plenty wide enough for a Megahalems. Cooler is definitely better and will let you push the overclock higher.
