dling Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I'm at 21x193 = 4.05 ghz ,the vcore1.26 . I my try to write down my settings today and post them for you if you would like. What motherboard you you using ? Your sig is showing different cpu then your post is asking about.
WilliamP Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I am using a Gigabyte Ga-EX58-UD3R board. The I7-920 is my wife's computer. I would appreciate you writing down your settings.
dling Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 (edited) Here are some pics of what I think are the most important settings . Sorry I dont know how to post actual pics of bios. sorry I cant read them here. I'm not good at this. I will just write them down later. dling Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 OK . This is the same as above just read-able. My Mother board is an Asus so of coarse some things will different. I would not recommend setting the memory speed that I'm using. You may want to leave it auto . I hope this helps. Nicckko Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Hello, These are my BIOS settings, I think they might be helpful ... I don't like to leave things on AUTO. Here the CPU is running at 4011 MHz, on 19 x 211. By some weird reason on the 19 x multiplier the CPU seems to overclock better, even do the ram is running at higher speeds. For 20 x 200 I need more voltage on Vcore and QPI, 1.26875 exactly. With those settings it is stable on LinX 20 passes max memory usage. As well as OCCT. dling Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Have you tried doing a higher Dram Freq? If you change your divider from 8 to 10 I bet that Patriot ram would get a lot higher speeds .
slugbug Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Try lowering your CPU PLL Voltage to 1.65. That made a big difference with my EVGA X58-SLI and i7 920.

The i7 920 runs better with odd multipliers, so you should try the 21x multiplier

They like odd multipliers although no one I've talked to can say why.

Haven't tried the 10 divider but I will give a shot later on and see if the ram can handle it.
WilliamP Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Thank you all for the help. I am satisfied now. I have it at 3.8 stable with ram at 1600. I did have to go with 19 multiplier. That is fast enough for momma's computer. Now I would like to get an SSD for it.
