WilliamP Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 I have a question on my new build. I have a i7-920 on a Gigabyte mobo. I have it overclocked to 3.7. Now here is my question. I have CPUID on the computer and it shows the processor at 3700 all the time. It doesn't slow down. But per Core Temp the temps do drop as if the processor is slowed. If I crank up Prime95 the temps go up. On my other computer an E8500 at 4.25 CPUID does show 2.66 at idle. I don't understand. cirro Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 the duo core prob. has the intel speedstep on in bios. that lowers the speed when consumption is decreased. try going into your bios and disabling that

road-runner Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 My Gigabyte mobo doesn't have speed step. I believe giga calls it EIST...
WilliamP Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 EIST is enabled in my BIOS. Based on the CoreTemp readings it is cut back but CPUID don't see it.
