GmAz Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) I just got my new computer built and am very happy with it. Here is what I got so you guys know what I got: Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131366 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103808 Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231277 I've got three 120mm fans in the case I got. The one on the side panel and one on front/bottom of the case are pulling air in. The fan on the back near the ports is pulling air out, as well as the power supply fan. As of right now, I am running my Phenom II 755BE with a multipler of 17 (same as 765 since they are essentially the same processor) and a bus of 211 giving me 3.6ghz. I am using stock CPU cooling and ASUS PC Probe tells me I idle at 42C and so far at load using SuperPi, I've topped out at 47C. I know SuperPi isn't the best tool to load my system, but I'm downloading SiSandra 2010 now and will run after the 32 million SuperPi finishes. Ok, I finally remembered what I used to use to stress the CPU for temps and downloaded Prime95 64bit edition. Right now my CPU seems to be topping out at 64C. Its been a while since I was watching temps and that used to be high, but I have no idea if that is high for this processor at 3.6Ghz or not. What are some good coolers that will hopefully stay somewhat quiet when idle and not terribly loud if the temps go a little higher than normal. Also, I do not play games on this system. I am using the onboard video HDMI to my TV and is primarily used as a media center PC. It also does conversions of video files (have a 3 year old and what can I say, home movies are in full swing). I know an overclock isn't really necessary on the computer, but then again, is it ever necessary. But that isn't gonna stop me >=). Is this a decent one: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx...N82E16835233003 Also, I had some DDR2 800 Memory in my system before with my old Core2Duo 6300 and it got a better rating on the Windows experience score than my new DDR3 1600. What gives with that?? Attached is my current settings via CPUZ. Edited January 9, 2010 by GmAz

GmAz Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 the prolimatech cooler... if you have the money and the room that is... or the Venomous by thermalright if they have a amd bracket.... http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9945/cpu...l?tl=g40c14s881 or this little lady... with a second fan The noctura nees the AM3 backplate. Is the the one that came with the motherboard, or do i need to order it from that site as well. $100 is pricey, would have to wait til next month to buy it, but quiet is what me and the wife are looking for since the computer sits in front of us under the TV. And I'm assuming that the link you gave me comes with a second fan as it say sso in the title...right?
TheHippi Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 This is one of the best heatsinks out there, especially if you factor in the price.
