CoolMaster Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103687 namely the Athlon II line. Im looking at the X2's and X3's of the Athlon II's (I hear the L3 cache wont matter a ton) as I play mostly older games like Oblivion/Fallout 3/World of Warcraft. but still would be interested in playing some newer ones (Aion/L4D2) Would something like the Athlon II X2's and X3's be ok? I have a 4850 ATI video card (and it seems to run nice) Ignore my specs btw (they need to be updated) but will the L3 cache hurt me "THAT" much? as compared to the phenoms? because they are SOOO cheap. and im getting AM3 (btw AMD is ok to go with now right? didn't they win a HUGE lawsuit?) thanks guys. edit: btw, are Athlon II X2's still made? aka do they even still produce dual core processors (since quads/trio's are the new thing) I didnt know if they even still bothered making dual cores? thanks a bunch
_TheAlexO Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 they are brand new chips. so yes they are still made. they will be around for a long time. the lack of l3 wont kill you. you should be alright with those games.
JBags Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) yeah athlon II and phenom II are AMD's current lineup of desktop chips. essentially, anything socket AM3 is AMD's current.
