R.O.GamerZ Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Hi Whats the difference between DDR3 dual channel and Tri channel if i put DDR3 dual channel 1600 4Gg with i7 920, is its perfomance is less than DDR3 Tri channel 1600 3Gb
nns Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Yes, but the difference will be so little that it won't show any change in gaming and no significant change otherwise... What are you looking to use your pc for? Typically 4GB dual channel is better than 3GB Triple channel..

What are you looking to use your pc for?Typically 4GB dual channel is better than 3GB Triple channel.. +1. in gaming, triple channel provides no real (noticable) benefit over dual. in synthetic benchmarks you'll notice a difference, otherwise you won't. corsiar dominatod 1600mhz tri channnel 3gb or corsiar dominatod 1600mhz dual channel 2gb which is better and what the difference between these Assuming you have an X58 board, the 3GB triple channel will probably perform better than the 2GB dual channel solely because it's 3GB vs 2GB, not necessarily because of the bandwidth added by the third channel, but because of the added capacity of it. However, this does not necessarily hold true for 6GB triple vs 4GB dual, as any extra memory over 4GB will add negligable performance gains. JBags Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 X58 can't run dual channel, if you put in two sticks it will run them single channel. (As I recall) I've seen benchmarks with X58 with triple channel against dual channel. I posted a couple in another thread on a similiar topic.. i could find them for you if you like, but i also found them using Google and besides, LGA 1366 CPUs have three built in channels, why would they not be able to function in dual channel? That's like saying dual channel memory controllers arent capable to operating in single.. or something... and how would we even know the performance difference between triple and dual, if we're comparing the two between different platforms? Only X58 triple channel and X58 dual channel would offer us a reliable base on which to found our comments.
