GabrielT Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 ive opened it before should i clean the fan, clean the heatsink, apply AS5 to the heatsinks? Why not? It couldn't hurt and you can see if there is anything you can do to improve cooling like removing restrictive vent grills or adding fans if possible. nns Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Cleaning and redoing the thermal paste does help to a certain extent but it's an HP! The heatsinks suck big time! Did anyone stress test a laptop before buying?? I did stress mine to 98C for about 15 mins and stopped coz I didn't want to spend money on a new laptop!! BTW I did like the 108C, I'll do that just before throwing it in the trash!! (I really want to do that!!!)
Andrewr05 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Absolutely, open it up and clean out all the vents! Then build yourself a ghetto/redneck laptop stand/fan to give it more airflow.
