maj0rgamer Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 (edited) hello folks; been trying to play a game and have had about five bsod's... trouble is, havn't been able to read the info on the screen after the bsod because of the automatic restart on vista, which is almost immediate. have already gone to system properties and unchecked the box for automatically restart and still the system restarts (although the blue screen info is there for a brief time before the restart after the un-check)... what gives? anybody had this problem? thanks Edited September 16, 2009 by Maj0r Gamer
road-runner Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I took a picture of mine one time so I could see what it said....
maj0rgamer Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 (edited) what, with a camera? don't think a screen shot will work after a system crash gonna try to see if getting a pic with a cell phone will work, thanks for the idea. anybody else got any ideas or options on how to get rid of this restart problem? just want the screen to stay on the blue screen info and simply restart manually. ocre Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 This should answer your question well. http://www.internetfixes.com/vista_tips/IF01186.htm Thats it. There isnt much else to do. When that mark is unchecked the blue screen stays until you press reset. you could check your event log (type "eve" in start menu search) for clues, make sure you havent unchecked the box that tells it to write the event, its in the same location as menchioned in the link from fire_storm. Also make sure the kernal memory dump is checked, that could give you some extra time to read it too.
maj0rgamer Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 (edited) that's the problem though, the blue screen doesn't stay until resetting... any idea why? thanks for the tip on the event log, might be able to get some info through it Edited September 16, 2009 by Maj0r Gamer
WhenKittensATK Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) edit nm. You've already tried it. Have you tried enabling mini-dump and uploading it to specialty sites? Edited September 17, 2009 by Krazyxazn
Katas Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) Try using that program I linked. it will give you the error code and file causing the issue. Edit: basically it parses the dump log for you. Edited September 17, 2009 by Katas
maj0rgamer Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) thanks katas... weary of downloading programs from unknown sites though. have you used the program? @krazyxazn thinking mini-dump is enabled, but havn't ever used any specialty sites like that before... got any suggestions?
