OCZ Modxstream 500w yes? no?

i can get this PSU at around 45 dollars at tiger direct which is delicious price for me, but becoz of that price, i'm scared that you get what u pay for has a literal meaning, so i wanted to know the opinion of several other OCC users on said power supply, becoz i'm relatively new to working on my own comps hardware

i'll list specs of my comp and the most i'm planning to up grade

Processor: AMD Phenom 9150e Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~1.8GHz

Memory: 3838MB RAM

Hard Drive: 629 GB (upgrade: 1 or 2 more HDD with 1 tb and about 300 gb likely)

Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics (upgrade to a xfx ATI radeon 4870 with 1gb recommended 500w)

A big definit yes from me as my son runs this PSU and the write up on it was excellent being one of the only PSU's at 500watts to perform consistently above the 80%.

 

A big plus as well is the modular cables. Good choice there

Here is a review of a similar PSU, the OCZ ModXStream-Pro 600W. It seemed to perform well for the price but the DC quality only scored a "borderline", due to the amount of ripple according to paulktreg. Nevertheless, it performed very well for it's class.

hmmm

well i'm gonna get it

my friend runs this PSU and it seemed to have everything i've wanted in a psu in a convenient and affordable package

 

i justwanted to get the opinion from people with more experience with it
