I have a cooler master v8 in the bios(no windows tell saturday <_< ) the temps are 32C is that a good temp to start with? I was able to move the multiplier up until i hit 3.9Ghz(42C) without touching anything else is that good? what are the max voltages for the 940? _TheAlexO Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) If you got it up to 3.9ghz with just a multiplier bump and NO voltage increase. then that is VERY VERY good for a PII940. i have my PII940 at 3.8ghz but i had to increase the voltage.. Temperatures arent too bad but they could be lower, especially since you have a cooler master v8. which is a beastly cooler.. check the load temps. thats basically all you need to worry about. take it past the 4ghz mark (BTW): the max voltage for the 940 is around 1.425 if im not mistaken. but AMD said at 1.5 there shouldnt be problems Edited April 23, 2009 by ShallowBay Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Nuclear Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Those temps are okay for idle. I wouldn't focus on your idle temps though because in the end they are meaningless. Make sure the loaded temps stay under 55C on all 4 cores and everything will be okay. The 940 gets quite unstable once temps hit over 55C. The absolute max temp you should run on that chip without extreme cooling is 1.55v, but since you are on air I would keep it at or under 1.475v just to be safe. The 940 will really start heating up at or around 1.45v so be sure to keep an eye on the temps, especially if you adjust your secondary voltages. Hey dude I just wanted to tell you, incase you didn't know that the coolermaster instructions have you mount the cooler upside down.
