WReXSTi Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 (edited) I was wondering what cooler I should get to overclock my Q9300. I was looking at the CoolIT Domino A.L.C. I noticed that air coolers to better than liquid cooling kit. So I started looking at Air coolers and came up with these. Zalman 9900 COOLER MASTER V8 Noctua NH-U12P Vigor Monsoon III LT ASUS Triton 78 Thermaltake SpinQ I will be getting another fan for the Noctua if I buy that. Also, for all the heatsinks, I will be using Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound. I am open to any suggestions. I also looked into Liquid cooling and found the Thermaltake CL-W0175. My price range is no more than 75 but is this worth the extra bucks? The question I need an answer to is that my Motherboard, which is a 750i FTW, says that the FSB for overclocking has the support of 1600MHz FSB & beyond. I would like to know which is safe for me and what it means when is says "1600MHz FSB & beyond". My goal is to reach 2.8 GHz or more. Thank you for your time. Overall the best air cooler is a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme , but you have to lap it and buy your own fan, and its pricey. From newegg it will be either the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer, Xigmatek Dark Knight, Or Coolermaster V8 *Quick Question, if you get a true with one fan, should the fan be pushing into the heatsink or pulling air through it? I could get the Thermalright Ultra for 125 with it lapped and 2 Noctua Fans. Is that a good price? Also, isn't the Noctua better than the Dark knight? XIGMATEK dark knight - s1283 or XIGMATEK Dark Knight-S1283V Also, should I get the Dark Knight or the Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer? I think it depends on personal preference, but the Sunbeam Core Contact is ranked 2nd on Frostytech. I wonder if anyone has any of these and can give you a personal account. TheConqueror Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Actually, the only difference is the Dark Knight S1283V comes with a LGA1366 bolt-through kit and the Dark Knight S1283 doesnt, thats why the S1283 is outdated and newegg doesnt have any stock. Also do not trust frostytech review, they are synthetic tests. And I personally take the Dark Knight over the Sunbeam since it is essentially the same thing, but the Dark Knight mounts easier and better and is on average 2C cooler Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
