help with e7200&ep35 oc

Recommended Posts

hey guys,

i ll get straight to the point.

i mange to oc my E7200 to 3.1ghz{327*9.5} with increase volt by .001v on stock cooling

ram is kvr 800 & fsb:ram ratio is 1:1 no increase in the volt

mobo is ep35ds3l

temps idle=35 load=52

the question is....

when i tried 3.3{350*9.5} it posted fine and when it come to welcome screen it restarts

so, i tried to get it to 3.2ghz and it went very well till i started orthos after about 1 min it gave me error

it said somthing about round error.

so, any idea whats going on and how can igo higher safely?

thanx for your time :)

THANX for ur reply

my current volt is 1.11875v

i tried adding more volts before but all i got was extra heat and same problem{it was 1.125v}

also tried to increase ram and north bridge volts but still the same

wats funny is when i set the fsb to 350[the which refuse to boot] and multiplier to 8

it went just fine.

i hope u can find a soluation for that problem.

I second the add more voltage solution. Unless your cooler cant handle the extra heat, in which case get a new cooler. Come to think of it, that there could be your problem... have you looked at your temps any?

thanx for ur reply

i ll try that exrta volt thing it seems the only way to go

i can see that u have specs similar to mine and u reached the max volt for 45n processor

so, wat r the temps on such volt & does xigmatek satisfy ur cooling needs ?

other thing u have the same mobo it doesnt support raid

in ur signature u mentioned it

how come?

sorry for many question .

For comparison, I'm running my e7200 at 4.05ghz 450x9 w/1.39v (1.35 in cpuz.) Try dropping the multi to 9x if you can and raise your voltage and fsb some more. Like others have said, if heat becomes and issue, you may need a new cooler. Mine is running 36c idle and about 55c load.

here is wat i did so far:

i raised volt to 1.17and i was able to to boot at 3.35{which wasnt able to boot before}

and orthos was able to stay on for 42 min till error ocurred{dunno why}

then i decide to do risky move i raised fsb to 400{max for my rambus=800}

400*9.5=3.8

volt was 1.3{btw the box said 1.25 max so, wat do u think}

i was able to boot but windows was unstable so, all i did to decrease the mutiplier to 9

it went just fine with orthos but ireached 65c

so all am going to do is to get cooler and change ram to hyperx 1066

tell me wat u think

thanks for ut time

When you get errors in Orthos or especially in Windows, that means you're unstable. You say you don't know why Orthos fails. That's why. Orthos is there to test stability. If it fails, you're unstable and you probably need more voltage.

For reference, I run my E7400 at 1.375v 24/7. I have run it as high as 1.5v but I would really not recommend that for long term and even then you need very good cooling. I think your next step should be a good cooler. Also, you need to do more stability testing and find a stable setting to keep your system at. If it's failing Orthos in 40 minutes, you should probably dial it down a bit until you get a better cooler. More voltage would also solve the problems, but it would make your temps worse which is really not a good idea with your stock cooler.
