xPETEZx Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Hi Guys! I am looking for a new fan to replace the Antec Tri-Cool on my TRUE Black. I want it to be a PWM fan, as I want to connect to the motherboard and have that control the speed. ATm, my Tri-Cool is always on full speed (then slowed by built in controleR) because it is only a 3-pin fan. I would like a fan that is really good quality and quiet at half speed, yet powerful ish at full. (1600rpm range?) Any suggestions? The only one I have found is the Sythe fan, but is SLEEVE bearing, and I DO NOT want to go near that. Needs to be silent and long lasting. So no sleeve fans plz! dr_bowtie Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 sleeves are fine...I use them and they use Bronze impregnated sleeves... if it goes funky just lube it and run again...I have only every had to lube 1 or 2 over the last 9 years... jammin Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 PWM is going to limit your options somewhat, as is cutting out sleeve bearings (they are generally quieter than ball bearings after all). My regular Nexus fans hooked up to a fan controller are nice and quiet, and they also do a PWM version. Not sure how it compares, and I suspect it will also also use a sleeve bearing.
