Waco Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Can't you just drop your memory speed down a bit?
Compxpert Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 (edited) Can't you just drop your memory speed down a bit? I tried to drop it down from 1600 to 1200 but then I just get system beeps and no post. Oh ya, also what case are you using? Is that even relevant? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811112198 Edited March 10, 2009 by Compxpert
road-runner Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 What are temps like at load? Air or water?
TheConqueror Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Some cases provide better cooling than others. Also @roadrunner he said he is on air
Compxpert Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 What are temps like at load? Air or water? Well when I was able to stay at 4.0 long enough they never hit above 76C at any given point and temps were mostly floating around 66-76 pretty large range I know. I'm on air cooling. I'm on air cooling. I dont know exactly where they get unstable from heat or how hot they can run. I done a quick OC on my air cooled 920 and settled for 3.8Ghz full load 24/7, seems like temps were right around 70c. I would go check it but it has Ubuntu on it now and I could not get lmsensors to work with X58. I would say you are doing good, most people on air are settling for around 3.8Ghz, back it off just a little till it gets stable...
