Xigmatek

So my Xigmatek cools really nicely when compared to the stock Intel cooler.

However, it spins constantly at 1500RPM. The Intel cooler would stay around 600RPM until things get warm.

Any idea how to control the Xigmatek without programs like Speedfan (where I have to manually adjust it each time)?

in ur bios settings, in the pc health section should be an option to let the bios control the speed of the fan.

Can someone with my motherboard point out where this is?

How about you tell us what board you have...

C2D E8400 @ 3.0GHZ > Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4850 @ 700/1030MHZ > 4GB Patriot Vipper DDR2 @ 1066MHZ > Samsung 2233BW 22" > NZXT Tempest

Krow,

Are you using the Xigmatek S1283?

The cooling fan on that one has 4 pins.

The P5Q pro has a 4 pin fan connector for the CPU fan.

It should control RPM automatically.

And when will you get around to overclocking your E8400?

You could prolly bump it to 3.2-.4 without adjusting anything

Yes I am using the Xigmatek S1283 with 4 pins.

The problem is that at stock there was no reason for the fan to go faster then 1500RPM, so it would sit around there. I found the feature that let me change it to silent. Now I am getting ~900RPM with a few faster spins during gaming. Sweet.

I am overclocking my E8400 now actually. Trying to see if 3.6GHZ works with stock volts. So far it does!
