hick Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) All i do is surf the interweb, counter-strike 1.6/source and team fortress 2. SO far my cart has (i duno how to do pretty links 1. video VisionTek 900241 Radeon HD 4850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814129112 $185 2. ram G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231122 $82 3 mobo GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128337 $85 4. cpu Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115052 $120 5. psu Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC 430W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817153023 $41 6. actic silver $5 total $518 plus shipping and before $55 in Mail IN rebates. I will do little overclocking for now (however far i can get on stock voltages) which is why i bought the box cpu w/ stock cooler. I may be iffy on the psu but it is only got to have 1 dvd burner and 1 hard drive. Let me know about the rest. If i must I can spend around $575 but like I said this comp will never be used for much more than what I said above (i've been online gaming for 8 years and those are the only games I have ever liked) Edited September 1, 2008 by hick

Queenz Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I don't think most hardware nowadays can be bad choices... You just need to get stuff that plays nice...from reputable manufacturers... P35 isn't a better choice than a P45...both will do crossfire... I would take Visiontek over Sapphire anyday. Lifetime warranty...period. that ram you choose is a bad choice. This is coming from the guy who has them in an old computer of mine. They don't even OC well. If you compare them to nowadays standards the OCing capability on them suck. Not trying to be mean or anything but it's true. I had to take those sticks and switch to some ballistix for way way better results

Hick - with that set up...you'll run all those games at max settings (I run maxed settings on my setup at 1920x1080 )
wevsspot Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Hick, The G.Skill memory you've chosen is on sale at the Egg right now for $69.99 + free shipping. Take the money you'll save and put it towards a better power supply with a little more ump. Queenz Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Here is an even better choice for a power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817341010 600 Watts 4 rock solid rails and everything. I have it in my E8400 setup and it can take anything pretty damn well. Not to mention it's on OCC's recommended Power Supplies Choice list. BTW all the cabling is pre-sleeved for you to give you that nice clean look.
airman Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 i have the same ram that queenz suggested (the gskill 2x2gb ddr2-800) - i just bought it actually. right now it's running 5:6 with my q6600 at 3.2ghz (light OC for now, having MOBO troubles) which is about 427mhz. Here is an even better power supply, better because of the price ($35 off plus the promo code) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817371007 I really recommend you buy this power supply it will be more then enough for your rig, it might not be the most powerful but it will get the job done, and at a low price. Crazy_Nate Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Go with the [cheaper] OCZ if you can. An E8400 (or higher) would do quite nicely.
