DeltaForce Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 (edited) I wasn't sure whether to put this in the OC'ing or Video Card section so please dont get angry, I was wondering what the best program is to overclock my 8800 GTS 640mb is. I've tried using Ntune and its garbage, it becomes unstable if i even move it up 10 mhz, im not exactly a noob to GPU overclocking, i did a lot of OC'ing to my ATI x800 and my x600 before that. The stock core bus is 576 mhz and mem bus is 900 mhz. Am i just crazy or do other people have problems with Ntune? bg8780 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Im actually using EVGA precision and i love it, even thought i have a BFG card it still works fine. Its a great utility only problem might be getting cuz u have to register a EVGA product to have access to an account and download it. im sure u can find a torrent some where. cirro Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 video cards are alot more acceptable of heat, 70c is okay, i mean before i even cleaned off my evga ssc cooler for it (watercooled now) it would peak around 100c so your more than fine. i have a duo-orb i put on mine and got those results (from 70 to 50s') then i put my waterblock on it and it doesnt break 45 now Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Descended Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) just finished Ocing my own 8800 GTS....got it up to 820/2000/1130...ran ATI tool for 20 minutes, temps got up to 67...though i had some minor artifacts in ATI, i don't notice them so much in games...i had it safely at 800/1950/1120...no artifacts peak was 65...at 80% fan...so it could be less but at 100% its too annoying so i have 100% going if it gets to 70 but it never does another thing is i had a 8800 GT before my GTS that got up to 81c on load and so do a lot of others...and if your card has G92 architecture like all new cards (both 8800GT and GTS use same chip) then that makes it much cooler and with the GTS' dual-slot cooling...your more than welcome to OC it to whatever is stable....basically you can't overheat this thing lol Edited July 3, 2008 by Descended Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

jaz Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 I'm pretty sure Descended has a g92 512 card, not a g80 640-320mb card. A lot of people can get those clocks. but some people can't. I am one of the unfortunate ones that have crappy ocing cards. If i oc to 780/1880/1000 i get ati artifacting. but if I lowered the core and shader, and raised the mem to 751/1829/1034 i was ok. I flashed the bios of a 2nd stock card and I'm waiting for my new psu so i can sli the cards and oc if i want/need to. These cards can get hot, and can run hot pretty well. But the big coolers on them are great.
