White_Hair Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Hi Guys: Hope you guys had a wonder new year party. I was flushing my watercooling system and found out inside my radiator, it is coated with white residual (wax like crap). And that was directly resulted by using FluidXP coolant. I tried to clean the residuals but not successful. Does anyone know how to completely clean the wax like residual or know any solutions that can dissolve those stuff without hurting the radiator? Thanks a million for any help and Happy New Year.

White_Hair Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I already tried hot water from the tap but that doesn't seem to work very well. I will try to run boiled distill water see if it will help tonight.
Jachyra007 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Let us know, because I think I have the same issue -water is getting a little cloudy and I'm starting to see buildup on the hose fittings...
HarryTaco Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Im wondering if it isnt the same kind of buildup you get in the bathtub. You need some kind of acidic cleaner in there. I would suggest trying Vinegar solution first...probably a 100% pure solution then some kind of flush. If not, then some kind of "Limeaway" type solution as a last resort. Good Luck. Hey, these are what I would try given your situation. You might have reservations about it, but then again you might think its a good idea. Just my two-cents. radodrill Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 First thing I'd try is heat up a cup of water in the microwave; pour that in; cap the inlet/outlet and shake it; then flush. TBH white vinegar doesn't really do much.
White_Hair Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I will boil some hot water and put my radiator in there for like 5 minutes and flush it. I will post the result later tonight.
Jachyra007 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Doesn't vinegar eat away the insides of the radiator though? Or is that only an effect of leaving it sit there so long?
n_w95482 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 It does slowly dissolve copper, but it's usually only an issue if you leave it in there for way too long. I left vinegar in mine for an hour and it was slightly tinted blue when I poured it out.
White_Hair Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I tried with put my rad in a tanked of boiled hot water for like 15 mins. It helps a bit. However, the result is still not satisfied.

However, the result is still not satisfied. it might take several repetitions until you see big improvement. Keep going.
