cegras Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 I'm currently in the process of OC'ing my 3800 x2 (will update sig as soon as a stable setting is found), and so far my Core #2 is reported to have a 55C load, with an AC64 Pro. How high is a 'safe' temperature? I don't mind buying a new heatsink, but is a 60C cutoff for 'safe' advisable?
radodrill Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Usually 60-65C is considered the max safe temp for CPU OCing
ReelFiles Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 I use 60C for AMD CPUs, I tend to push Intel chips a bit further like 65C, but that's max under load and definitely not for 24/7 use
RubberDuck Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 For my 24/7 Folding rig { one in sig } I don't go anywhere past 55c. I like it to be 50c fully loaded
cegras Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Hm. Well, the 'CPU' reading is about 48 or so. The 'Core #2' reads about 57/58 under Orthos. So I'm not sure which reading I should judge by -- I guess going by the hottest temperature is always the best? Thanks for the advice =O
momoceio Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 stock heatsink?
cegras Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Nuuup, AC64. The stock Al would've folded already, it was pooping out trying to cool the X2 under stock settings. (Noisy and made a ton of vibrations).
