EA is evil juggernaut that must be stopped

They killed Westwood.

They are absorbing every professional sports gaming franchise like the Blob.

They pioneered in game advertising.

Not to mention that have a "sweatshop" reputation in the world of game designers and programmers. I would hate to see how they treat their QA people.

Now they bought BioWare and Pandemic Studios.

Can we stop the madness?

I wonder if Gabe Newell actually said "xxxx OFF" when they tried to go after Valve?

I went to school for video game design at a school here in Florida called Full Sail. A company called Tibouron is local here, I pass it on the way home from work, that is a division of EA. They do the Maddon series. All through school we heard nightmare stories about 50 to 80 hour work weeks worked there... Made my career descion right there... No Madden for me.

They're gonna kill NWN aren't they? icon9.gif

While I am not a fan of EA, I am not a "hater" of them either. I too have heard fourth-hand stories of the sweatshop environment, but haven't spoken with anyone who personally left the wringer.

If anyone could help me out, I really am in the dark about the banality of EA. Could you tell me what they have done that has people avoiding their products.

For example, Obsidian already killed NWN for me...the first 14 days of NWN2 were the most painful experience of my gaming career. 3 game breaking faults that stopped advancement of the story thread (2 solved by creating overwrite.bat files, 1 forced me to revert to a saved game from 4 hours earlier). Further, 2 patches were "recalled" because of faults ("...we recommend that you roll back to the previous patch...") and it had an in-game updater that wouldn't work on a freshly installed game. I finished the campaign and removed the game from my rig. I won't be lining up to purchase anything bearing the Obsidian name, unless friends persuade me that partiucular title is worth it.

I love NWN and NWN2 (playing NWN2 currently about 1-2 hours per night when I have time). Bioware is AWESOME.

Hopefully EA won't kill them, but they probably will =/

I'm just not a fan of EA though they do release some awesome games (Burnout series, NHL 08 is a HUGE improvement over previous NHL titles, and probably a few more here and there)

Well Angry, you throw enough crap at the wall some of it is gonna stick.

The coding for BF2 and BF2142 sucks. Period. Huge. Not the best looking. Resource hogging. Unfortunately fun with 2142 titan mode but otherwise useless. Buggy... ugh.

I'm so glad Valve does things right when they do them. A pity EP2 was so short and took so long and still BLEW ME AWAY.

EA = no proper widescreen support in PC games (yet all of their 360/PS3 games are widescreen...yet not even those that are ported to PC have proper widescreen support...go figure...)

I love Valve. A lot of people hate Steam but I love it. I can install it anywhere on any machine and only download the games I want (that I've paid for). Once I've bought one and registered it on Steam, it's available everywhere and anywhere I can get internet + gaming-capable rig!). Plus they work forever on a game and it's always a killer game.

EA bangs out crap every day and most of it sucks. They are the Microsoft of video games in how they buy up all their competitors and then close them down when the acquisitions turn out crap that no one buys (mostly because they are buggy crap since EA forced them out the door in time to make financial reports to stockholders). Or they do some stupid (for us gamers) . like get exclusive rights to a sport so we are forced to have Madden shoved down our throats (funny since NFL 2k5 was the best football game made to date and it was only $20 vs Madden @ $40-$60).

They are a bunch of dirty dealers but like I said, sometimes they throw out a gem like Burnout or NHL 08.

momma and I just played a vs cpu match of Unreal Tournament 3....AWESOME. We have played old UT off and on since we met 5+ years ago. Can't wait for the release.

i could'nt agree more with thraxz,

valve do it right wether its short or not.

EA & its all about money / market share :( , their even sponsering programs on sky TV. i dont think they can ever be forgiven for what they slowly did to westwood either

thats why im not going crazy about crysis, just having EA with the name kills it for me. the newer farcry looks like it will be better, well i hope so.

AG, I agree with ya 100% in your last post. Not much more to add, but you hit the nail on the head about EA. I have pretty much stayed away from any of EA's games/content since BF2. Valve, seems to do things very nicely and I like STEAM. It's a very good content source and I would rather buy a game off STEAM than deal with a disc.
