nukleuz Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Yes, you can...as I'm overclocking all 4 of mine. so do i have to clear the bios before putting in the ram or i can just add the 2gb and it'll be fine?
Reinvented Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I'd clear it and start over from scratch, as adding 2 more sticks, can sometimes not overclock the same as the first set.

OJ287 Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I post here the reply from Robert, Tech Support DFI Usa. This may be interesting. > I use my 975X/G with 4 gigs of ram...no problem... my 975X/G works fine > with 4 sticks in windows ... > the quickest route for bringing your situation to DFI bios engineers > is thru emailing since that is support headquartes > for DFI in Taiwan... I have absolutely no idea how long it would take > engineers in Taiwan to simulate the issue you have with Linux. I will say > this though... So we see: for some users Windows with 4 Gb works fine, for some users > a 64bit os just fails miserably, even though it detects all the memory... So far nobody claimed that 4 Gb works fine under both 32-bit and 64-bit Linux. I saw posts at other forums mentioned "a memory hole problem" at some motherboards which gave similar symptoms which were traced to incorrect bios and were eliminated after an appropriate bios update. But this is only a guess. To Happy_Games: I apologize, I was not attentive. > I'm getting damn tired of repeating this I understand you. nukleuz Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Linux will see all 4GB in 32-bit mode Vista will see all 4GB in 32-bit mode all 64-bit OS's will of course see it Windows XP SP1 will see all 4GB WindowsXP SP2 just won't. We've tried for months and months and have had probably 100+ guys coming back and telling us the same thing...it just won't work in XP SP2. (be aware that you really don't want to go back to pre-SP2...just don't worry about seeing all 4GB at the moment as it is XP's problem, not any hardware problem....but Vista will relieve everyone of this problem, especially since 4GB in Vista will almost be a necessity) i just put 4gb in mine and vista sees it as 2gb dunno why that is cpu-z sees it as 4gb though
